BISHOP ELUE COMMISSIONS NEW PRIESTS’ RECTORY AT ST. JOHN MARY VIANNEY PARISH ASABA

It was indeed a memorable event and a gathering of great men and women from all walks of life at St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church, DBS Road, Asaba on Saturday, September 22, 2018. The gathering was with respect to a tripartite celebration of the Silver Jubilee anniversary of the Priest-in-Charge of the Parish, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Sylvester Chukwuekwu Nwutu, the blessing of the new Chapel and the blessing and commissioning of the new Fathers’ house.
The event began with a Holy Mass, which was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese, Most. Rev. Dr. Michael Odogwu Elue and celebrated by Rev. Fr. Sylvester Nwutu. Preaching at the Mass, the Vicar General of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Dr. Stephen Uzoma noted that the period of anniversary is a time of looking back to access how far we have done in the past and plan for the future. He recalled the great works Fr. Nwutu has done in places he was assigned in the past and asked him to do more and better in the coming years.
Notable among the dignitaries at the occasion included the Metropolitan of the Benin-City Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, who was represented by the Rector of St. Paul’s Seminary, Benin-City, Very Rev. Fr. Paschal Omono. Others include the immediate past Vicar General of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael Ifeanyinachukwu Mozia, the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. John Ike Aduba, the Mother General of the New Evangelization Sisters, Sr. Justina Nwaobi, Regional Vicars and great sons and daughters of the Church.
