
NEW DIOCESAN APPOINTMENTS TAKE EFFECT
On Friday, 14th August, 2020, during the meeting of the priests of Issele-Uku Diocese at the Pastoral Centre Issele-Uku, the Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Odogwu Elue announced the appointment of some priests to new pastoral positions. In his very words at the announcement, “The following diocesan appointments have been made in this COVID-19 Pandemic Year 2020, in order to accommodate whatever normalcy we can restore in these abnormal times, but they are still made for the greater glory of God and the spiritual good of the People of God in the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku.”
A total number of 45 priests were affected by these appointments. Among them were 13 Parish Priests and 28 assistant parish priests. 12 of the new parish priests were simply relocated from a former Parish, where they were in charge to a new place, while one, Rev. Fr. Christopher Ubah is resuming as a first-time parish priest, with Holy Family Catholic Church, Ogwashi-Uku as his first. The remaining 4 priests affected by the appointments included Very Rev. Fr. John Konyeke, who is embarking on a study leave, Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Odum, the new Vocations Director, Rev. Fr. Israel Dibia, the new assistant Vocations Director and Rev. Fr. These appointments began to take effect from Tuesday, 25th August, 2020. That was the day the new Parish Priests resumed in their new places. The assistant parish priests also resumed in their new places on Thursday, 27th August, 2020.
